Most numbers in this market are laundered — a practitioner’s offhand estimate becomes a blog post, becomes a “study”, becomes a statistic nobody can trace. We have stopped using several widely-quoted figures for exactly that reason.
What follows is the opposite: primary sources, read directly, quoted verbatim, with the date attached and the limitations written down next to the finding rather than underneath it.
